The ring, jeweler Jacob & Co. confirmed to PEOPLE, is crafted from platinum and features a square, emerald-cut fancy light pink diamond in the center, surrounded by 58 intense pink diamonds, flanked by two half-moon diamonds. The total carat weight of the ring – the center stone alone is 10 carats – is a jaw-dropping 17 carats, with a value of $2.5 million.

Though some have speculated that Carey's ring is the same one Cannon gave to his former fiancée, Victoria's Secret model Seltia Ebanks, Ebanks's ring was 12 carats and made of colorless diamonds.

The rumor yesterday was that Mariah Carey was ENGAGED to her boyfriend Nick Cannon from Nickelodeon (he's 27, she's 38)... TODAY the rumor is that they're ALREADY MARRIED!! (According to Perezhilton.com: "The pair wed in a secret ceremony on Wednesday, Latina magazine is reporting. The nuptials are said to have taken place in an island and he small ceremony was "very impulsive," according to the source.")

LOS ANGELES - Miley Cyrus is taking issue with a photo of herself that's going around, and it's not another amateur, truth-or-dare Internet snapshot — it's the handiwork of Annie Leibovitz.

"I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," Cyrus said Sunday in a statement through her publicist. "I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."

The photos, appearing in the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair, were taken by Leibovitz, a renowned celebrity photographer whose edgy, silver-toned portraits have included subjects such as Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and a naked, pregnant Demi Moore.

"I'm sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted," Leibovitz said in a statement released by Vanity Fair. "Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful."

The Cyrus pictures accompany an interview with the 15-year-old pop star and her father, singer Billy Ray Cyrus. One photo in particular is causing the biggest stir: the teen idol is wrapped in what appears to be a satin bedsheet, looking over her shoulder with her back exposed.

The Disney Channel, which airs Cyrus' TV show "Hannah Montana," was also critical of Vanity Fair.

"Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines," a network statement said.

Vanity Fair defended the story and photo shoot in a statement of its own.

"Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day," the magazine said. "Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley."

In a caption released by Vanity Fair with the photo, Cyrus expressed her comfort with how the apparently topless picture turned out.

"I think it's really artsy," she told the magazine at the time. "It wasn't in a skanky way. Annie took, like, a beautiful shot, and I thought that was really cool. That's what she wanted me to do, and you can't say no to Annie."

A handful of borderline racy snapshots of a girl who appeared to be Cyrus have appeared on the Internet in recent months, including images of a girl posing in her underwear and bikini last week. In one shot, she's draped over a young man.

Cyrus is one of the biggest — and most G-rated — acts in the country and is often considered a role model for young girls. Her "Best of Both Worlds" tour sold out arenas, and her successful 3-D concert film collected $31.3 million in its opening weekend in February.

Doesn't it figure that right when I am in the midst of collecting money for the Pledge for Pets that someone decides to dump a mama kitty and 3 babies by my house. A family down the street from me has taken in two of the kittens and my neighbor is contemplating keeping the other kitten. But, that leaves Mama. She looks to be under a year old, is small, all black with the most beautiful tuquiose colored eyes and is unbelievably lovable and sweet. She is using the litter box and is currently residing on my screened in front porch. I haven't taken her into my house because 1) I have 2 dogs and a cat and I am not sure how they would do with each other, but moreso because 2) I have not had her checked out by a vet yet and don't want to expose my pets to something even though she appears VERY healthy. What a GREAT experience...

Well, let’s just say I’m no longer jealous of you…

Haha! I went to 2 shows in PA in two nights and the second night, I was chosen to go on stage (when I say ‘ho’ you say ‘leash it’!!) and pose with all of the groups on tour as they were in frozen positions. All of the other people stayed frozen, but Jason and Toca came out of their frozen poses to kiss me on the cheek! Then Jason and I danced together for the rest of the last song J (They choose a new girl at almost every show of this April tour, but shhhhh)

Suffice it to say I was on cloud nine, then on top of that, Jason was out meeting people after the show (middle picture) and we got to talk for a few minutes—an amazingly genuine guy, as I’m sure you noticed, too! After loving the music for 4 years, I finally got to meet him…I hope next time we can just sit and talk for a while though. I’d just love to pick his brain.

Thanks for asking and for letting me tell like the 34802394th person about my very very very happy weekend!! :-D

Hi Jen!

I tried to get through but I couldn’t, but I wanted to share with you what I hate that everyone else loves. Now I know people who don’t like tomatoes and I even know someone who doesn’t like pizza, but what I hate is unusual and I have NEVER met anyone who didn’t like it – and that’s corn. I HATE CORN!! All types – corn on the cob, in a can, creamed corn – it’s all terrible to me. Even the smell of corn makes me sick.

As you can imagine this has made me somewhat of a family gathering and cookout outcast! I’m the only one that doesn’t have corn on my plate at Thanksgiving or a big, fat piece of corn on the cob at the family reunion. I wonder if there is anyone else out there???

I was listening to your discussions about 'american' foods people cant handle and there is only one i cant stand. Mac And Cheese. To me, its the most repulsive food on the earth. I hate the noodles and i hate the cheese. It doesn't matter who makes it, i just hate it. And its kinda a problem with the fam because, well, they all love it. And then sometimes we have it for dinner. So then i pop in some pizza rolls. And those are what get me through. ((YAY PIZZA!!!))

It's in theatres Feb 29th - this weekend - and it is fantastic! My mom and I hosted a preview screening of it this past Saturday at Crocker Park! What an amazing experience! This is a movie that is so feel-good, so vibrant and colorful to watch and will be loved by kids and grown-ups too! It's all about loving yourself for who you are. I HIGHLY recommend you go see it...

DURAN DURAN ON THE WILDE AND FEE SHOW THIS MORNING!

Nick and Simon from Duran Duran! These guys are SO NICE. We were hanging out in the prep room while they were in studio with Allan and Rebecca, and the best part was when the song "Falling Down" was playing on air, Simon was in studio singing along with himself and even harmonizing! Rob Kruz and I got a huge kick out of that... too fun!
These guys were super nice... they spent time and talked to everyone in the building, then, when they were leaving, there were some peeps outside of the Q104 building trying to get a glimpse... they went up to them, signed stuff and took pix.

Q104 will be broadcasting live - backstage at the Staples Center in LA - on February 7th and 8th as we get ready for the 50th Grammy Awards on FebYOUary 10th at the Staples Center.

I ask for YOUR help. We want to have a TON of random/fun/silly/serious questions that we can ask the peeps as they stop by... I wanna fill up a whole fish bowl full of questions - with YOUR NAME AND CITY on them so when we're out there talking to someone, we can pull out a question and say "Hey, Paris Hilton, 'Sara' from 'Parma' wants to know what your favorite cereal is?"

SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2008

This may be one of the coolest personal vacations I've ever taken... my 2 best friends invited me on their annual trip to Sundance in Park City, Utah! If you don't know anything about this festival, it was started by Robert Redford and it's all about filmmakers, actors, screenings... some of the movies that made their premiere at Sundance in the past? Napoleon Dynamite, Resovoir Dogs, Little Miss Sunshine, Waitress... the list goes on. We saw 6 movies total while we were there for 5 days and even got ourselves into the Motorola Late Night Lounge and did some good celeb spotting!
Here's how it works... you go to a screening, the director speaks before the film, then afterward, there's a Q&A session... and most of the time, the actors in the movie are there to take questions! This is a pic of Maria Bello and William Hurt - the movie was "The Yellow Hankerchief".
This picture doesn't even do the view in the background justice... the mountains are HUGE and Park City is just so quaint and adorable... it's my two bestest friends that I travelled with, Jason (back) and Jonathan (blue coat).

Another movie we saw was "Blind Date" with Stanley Tucci (you may remember him as Nigel in Devil Wears Prada and a million other projects). He directed and starred in this dark comedy/drama. Loved the movie. He's here at the Q&A with his costar Patricia Clarkson.
This was THE COOLEST moment of the trip. Jason and I were hangin' at the Motorola Late Night lounge... the bathrooms were outside so we were standing in line, and who was standing there just to the right of us? Dave Annable (Justin), Matthew Rhys (Kevin) and Emily VanCamp (Becca) all from the show BROTHERS AND SISTERS! ONE OF MY FAVORITES! Although we thought we should probably play it cool, I opted not. Walked up and asked for a photo op, and they were all happy to oblige. We later saw them inside at the party just hangin' and minglin'. Even playing the Nintendo Wii's that they had set up at the party... LOVE this show, LOVE this pic!

Out of the 6 movies we saw at Sundance, the best one was called "The Last Word." Ray Romano, Winona Ryder, Wes Bentley (check out the scoop here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0876233/) ... if this movie comes to theatres you MUST see it. I got pretty close to Ray Romano, but by the time I worked my way through the crowd, he walked out... so I got this shot of him and some random dude.
This was super cool... at the podium, the director of "Diminished Capacity". To his right: ALAN ALDA, camera guy for film, MATTHEW BRODERICK, VIRGINIA MADSEN, other dude in the movie and other random guy I can't remember... and YES! SARAH JESSICA WAS THERE TOO! They sat 8 rows in front of us for the screening... I DESPERATELY tried to get a photo of her... I got very CLOSE to her, but see below for the worst pic ever.
Yep. This is Sarah Jessica Parker. Right in front of me. Being whisked out of the auditorium. Worst picture EVER. I don't care. Love her. I'm keepin' it... at least I can remember how close I got to see her! She's teeny tiny and gorgeous. Wearing a black puffy coat with some skinny jeans... adorable.

Ok. Yes, I realize it looks as if this is a photo of our friend Mel leaning her head back. Look CLOSELY to the right of her. See the man with the white beady eyes? It's Colin Farrell!!! He was SO CLOSE to us watching a movie that he narrated... a documentary about The Homeless World Cup. FANTASTIC movie.
Did you watch Sopranos? Remember the FBI Agent? This is HIM! Matt Servitto... he's also been in a ton of other stuff... Sex and the City, Law and Order... the list goes on.
This is Adam Scott... been in a bunch of stuff including "Knocked Up", "Tell Me You Love Me" on HBO, Law and Order, Monster in Law... Jason and I thought he was the guy who plays Courteney Cox's brother on Dirt. Oops. He's not. But he kinda looks like him!
These are my two Australian buddies that I've been hangin' with for years! Met them at a Grammy broadcast about 4 years ago, and since then we've all kept in touch. They are very "tapped" in to the celeb scene... that's how we got the hook up to this cool party. Thanks Brad and James!!!

My girlfriend Rachel and I got to see a preview screening of 27 Dresses last week. And I'll tell ya what, if you're looking for something to do this weekend - you MUST see this movie! It will become an instant favorite... it's BETTER than a plain 'ol chick flick. It's FUNNIER than you'll expect it to be. And you will relate to this story... I've always liked Katherine Heigl (just not her character on Grey's!) and this movie made me love her even more.

WHAT A GREAT WEEK!

It was so nice to have a chunk of time to spend at home with my family... usually it's a weekend trip, so at xmastime I try to stay as long as I can. Had so much fun relaxing, eating, seeing all of my relatives, eating, playing with the kids, eating, checking out the new winery in my hometown, eating, napping, eating... you get the drift. Here's some photos from my week off:
I keep in touch regularly with only two of my friends from high school... this is one of them. Samantha and her 4 month old son Frank (so cute!). We went to the "Christmas Dance" at the local country club with Sams brother Dante and his fiancee and her parents (her husband couldn't make it into town for the event so I was her date)... and oh no, I'm not kidding, it was an actual dance.

Christmas Eve the fam exchanges gifts. This year? I sent my parents on a scavenger hunt throughout the house to find "Wicked" tickets at the end. It's one of my favorite shows and I'm SO EXCITED that they're going to see it for the first time in February!
Hangin' with my brothers is always one of the most fun parts of home visits... here they both are with my incredibly shrinking grandma. I swear she gets tinier every time we see her...
My bros and I, again, with what we like to call "Shane Souffle". Some new corn souffle recipe my mom made at Thanksgiving and again at Xmas dinner. It's delicious.
Every night we all hung out... whether it was at my parents house, aunts and uncles, whatever. We even got the new "music edition" of Catchprase. If you've never played, OH. MY. GOD. You must. SO FUN!! I wish I had audio of us playing so you could hear it... too funny.

Overall, great time off. Great holiday. Great doing the morning show the week before I left town. Looking forward to being back on the air at 3 on Wednesday, though... I missed Q104!!!!!

5 LESSONS TO MAKE YOU THINK ABOUT THE WAY WE TREAT PEOPLE

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read
the last one:

'What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?'

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.

'Absolutely,' said the professor. 'In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do
is smile and say 'hello.'

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at 11:3 0 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had
broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally
unheard of in those conflict-filled 60s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a
giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached:

'Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.
Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away.. God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving
others.'

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.

'How much is an ice cream sundae?' he asked. 'Fifty cents,' replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.

'Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?' he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.

'Thirty-five cents,' she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins. 'I'll have the plain ice cream,' he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress
came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies.

You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path.

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock Some of the
king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did
anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the
stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed
a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the
person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand!

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only
chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness.

The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, 'Yes I'll do it if it will save her.' As the transfusion progressed, he lay in
bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded.

He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, 'Will I start to die right away?'

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her but he had chosen to save her anyway.

More than 100 customers enjoyed those Monday morning, lining up in an unbroken chain of motorists playing "pay it forward" at the Starbucks in the Greengate Centre in Hempfield.

For two hours, drive-through customers were informed that their lattes and other drinks had been paid for by the customer in front of them, employee Rebecca Hack said. They were offered a free beverage and asked if they'd like to pay for the driver behind them or to pass on the cheer in another way.

The "cheer chain," as Starbucks' employees referred to it, began at 7:20 a.m. Hack said the woman who started it is a regular and has paid for the customer behind her in the past.

But such chains usually stop after half a dozen cars or so, store manager Safka Vayo said, when there's a lull in the traffic. On Monday, the lull took longer than usual.

"(Monday) was just amazing," Vayo said Tuesday. "The flow was perfect."

Customers were told they were under no obligation, both women said. But only one, No. 53, declined to participate.

"He said, 'No, that's too much,'" Hack said, estimating the order of the customer behind him was around $4.

"I said, 'Well, enjoy your coffee today, no big deal,'" Hack said.

The chain remained unbroken, she said, because several customers had tossed in a few extra dollars to compensate for anyone who declined.

A tall coffee at Starbucks costs $1.64 with tax, Hack said, but many drivers picked up higher tabs without complaint.

Yesterday morning, regular customers asked how long the chain continued, Vayo said.

Hack was hoping the woman who bought the first cup of kindness would come in soon, so she could tell her what she started.

"She is the type of person that, when you ask her how she is, she always has a very unique way of answering," Hack said. "She'll say, 'I'm dancing above marvelous,' or 'I'm flirting with fantastic.'

"She'll say, 'Tell you what,' almost as an afterthought, 'toss it (the order of the customer behind her) on as well with the condition that he needs to do something nice for someone else today,'" Hack said.

"What I really enjoyed yesterday was watching what happened as it dawned on people," she said. "Their faces went from confusion to the corners of their mouths turning up. Everyone said, 'You're kidding,' or 'That's cool.' "

AQSTIC CHRISTMAS SHOW

Wow. Sometimes I think I enjoy an acoustic performance better than one with a full band... you can almost feel the music a bit more and the emotions that the artists put into it. One of my personal favorites Will Bowen opened the show and nailed it! (check him out here: http://www.willbowen.com/ the song Mr. Right is AMAZING... my favorite, followed by WITHOUT YOU HERE) Marie Digby looked as beautiful as her voice sounded, Matt Nathanson has a great sense of humor and reminded me a bit of John Mayer - NOT AT ALL because of the way he sounds or looks, but because he has such an original-looking way of performing. Kinda like John Mayer makes those funny faces? Matt has some interesting body movement... and Emerson Hart has an amazing solo album - he was already great when he was with Tonic! It was so fun to watch Will Bowen meet him and be somewhat "awed" by the whole experience.

One of the best parts of this event is the fact that these artists spent time signing autographs, taking pictures and hanging out with the people that came to watch the show. How lucky we all are to have experienced this evening. I'll remember it for a long time to come... here's some pix of my crew:

1. I've never watched the show "Dancing With the Stars" until now, and I'm officially addicted.
2. Dancing these fancy dances is NOT easy!
3. It is SO MUCH fun to dance! Especially when you have a very patient and talented instructor.
4. I have muscles in my entire body that I was unaware of until now... I am aware of this because every single one of these muscles aches. A lot.
5. We had ONE WEEK to learn our dances and then perform them in front of the camera. Thank God for the pros at Viva Dance that helped us all out!

So, it has been a lifelong challenge for my mother and I to shop together... yesterday, her and my aunt came to town for the Fabulous Food Show and some shopping at Westfield Southpark. My aunt was buying some new clothes, and we all decided that this particular piece looked great on her - so she bought it. BUT, while we were in the fitting room, my mother and I got into an argument... one of us thinks this is a "classic" piece for the wardrobe. The other disagrees. I won't tell you which of us thinks what... as to not bias your opinion. But we really need to settle it once and for all. Is this shirt/jacket a "classic" piece? I've put two pix here... you can see the colors and pattern a bit better in the bottom one...

Today I got several emails from friends that work at the Clinic saying they saw this pic on their intranet... it's from last week when the QCrew went "Reverse Trick-or-Treating" and took all kinds of goodies to the kids at the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital!!! Allan Fee and myself with one of the kids here sportin' some bee ears... this was truly an eye-opening and touching experience for me. It's hard not to fall in love with each and every one of these kids and pray for their wellness. Big thanks to the Clinic for letting us come in and visit, and thanks to my friend Amy for forwarding me the pic!

Halloween is so much fun! I feel like it's been years since I actually got to dress up... so when Fox 8 asked us to get a costume for the show today, I jumped right on board! Big thanks to Chelseas in Lakewood for the costume! (um, can I keep these boots... they rock!) Today, Rebecca and I were live on "That's Life with Robin Swoboda"... and viewers had to guess who we were to win a prize (we were masked originally!) Here I am with Robin and Jimi Sprinkles...

I had my 4th date with a new guy this past Saturday... the first few dates were great and typical, he took me out for drinks, followed by two more dinner dates. He was a perfect gentleman- he paid, did all the typical things you would expect on dates. So this past Saturday night, he suggested we stay in - wine and a movie. I was pretty excited about it... until he ran about an hour and a half late. THEN, when I got to his house, he proceeded to keep getting text messages and phone calls the whole evening. He never answered the calls... but he did respond to a few texts and I was thinking, hey buddy, just turn off the darn cell phone!

Now Jen, I don't know if this is grounds for never seeing him again, but I just really thought it was disrespectful to me... can you use this in a Date Him or Dump Him segment and see what your listeners think??

Feeling a bit pensive this evening...

... it's about 11 pm on Sunday evening and I'm coming down from a fantastic weekend. And I'm having one of those moments where I want to share. So today's blog is more of a "journal-esque" type entry.

Often when I'm online checking emails/show prepping and such at home, I'm listening to music. On this particular evening, I'm very thankful of how music can move me. There are certain songs in life... just ones that you can really feel. It's something about the way it sounds, combined with the actual lyrics, and the mood it creates when you hear it- the way it sometimes completely tells the story of what YOU are currently experiencing. When I listen to songs like that, it's almost like they swallow me. I'm completely surrounded and loving the whole experience of the song. Some songs like that in my past: "Color Blind" The Counting Crows, "Video Killed The Radio Star" The Buggles (cheesy as it may be), "I Shall Believe" Sheryl Crow, "Stay or Leave" and "So Damned Lucky" by Dave Matthews and "All I Need" Mat Kearney are just a few that immediately come to mind.

My most current song that moves me? "Apologize" by Timbaland and One Republic. The lyrics are so simple yet so very powerful in my opinion. So tonight, I wanted to post them here. If you haven't heard the song yet, you'll LOVE it. And you'll hear it on Q104.

I have to take a moment to tell you how very fortunate I am to work for one of the greatest and most talented people that works in our industry: Dave Popovich (better known to you as Skippy the PD!!!)

You see, this is not the first time I have worked under his direction... when I started in radio about 7 years ago, we both worked for another company. He was the program director that gave me my VERY FIRST full-time job in radio... and working with him back then as a baby broadcaster, I learned so much. I came to Q104, and within the first 2 years of me being here, Skippy came on as our new PD. How exciting! Nearly everyone in our industry knows him and always has a kind word to say about him...

I hope this doesn't come across as me doing the 'ol kiss-the-bosses-butt kind of thing, because I'm really not. He's the man behind the scenes and isn't publicly recognized for his efforts and achievements nearly enough. He is truly one of the greatest motivators and mentors in my career. His creativity, drive and passion for Q104 trickles down to every single one of us on the staff. And it truly is an honor to work for him. Attention, unmarried people of America: You can splurge on a fancy new wristwatch without having to explain yourself. You can stay out till 3 a.m. without having to phone home. You can leave the toilet seat up. In fact, there are many, many ways that single life rocks, though you may forget that fact when your relatives are grilling you about settling down. Not only do you have the freedom to do anything you want—it's also the best time in history to be flying solo.

The marriage rate has declined nearly 50 percent since 1970, according to the National Marriage Project at Rutgers University, and right now, there are approximately 100 million singles in the U.S. And there's strength in those numbers: "Today's choose-to-be singles differ from the poor-me singles of past generations; there's less of a stigma attached to being single, " says Jerusha Stewart, author of The Single Girl's Manifesta. "Singles are traveling, buying homes and doing everything they want to—you don't have to get married anymore to live your life with style." Want more specifics on why you should celebrate being single? Here, 10 fascinating benefits to being unmarried:

Reason #1: You have a better body.We've all been there—you get into a relationship, and suddenly you're trying out new recipes all the time and cuddling instead of exercising. Well, things tend to get worse with marriage. A recent Cornell University study found that women generally gain five to eight pounds in the first few years of marriage and unhappily married women gain an average of 54 pounds in the first 10 years.For the unmarried, though, the motivation to stay slim remains: "Singles look at themselves through the eyes of others and want to be attractive to potential partners," says Susan Davis, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist in New York City, "so they're still 'working on themselves.'" In short, being single is way better than any New Year's resolution or exercise DVD to motivate you to stay in shape.

Reason #2: You're more likely to achieve great things.It's amazing what you can accomplish when you have the time, the quiet and the lack of familial responsibilities. In fact, your premarital motivation to excel in life may be biologically programmed. According to a study conducted at the London School of Economics and Political Scientists, male scientists who stay single longer peak in their careers later in life and tend to be more productive than their married counterparts. Researchers theorize that men, in general, may show off their talents to win the interest of women and then, once they've won a wife, get comfortable and do less. In fact, studies have shown that testosterone levels, which boost action, decrease after a man gets married and has children. So single folk should know they are primed to achieve — whether that means turbo-charging their careers or honing their rock-climbing skills — and get out there and work it!

Reason #3: You do less housework.You know that saying about a tree falling in a forest and there's no one there to hear it? Well, if you leave a sock on the floor but there's no one else there to see it, does it really need to be picked up? If you're a single woman, you can contemplate deep questions like this one because you have more free time. According to one study published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, women do less housework when single than when married. Men, on the other hand, do more housework when unmarried (that's probably because there's someone picking up after them once they're wed…). So the message here is for unmarried women to enjoy their less chore-filled life; fill those free hours with classes, good books, blabbing with friends—whatever makes you happy.

Reason #4: You can do what you want with your money—including keep it.Go ahead: Splurge on that pricey moisturizer or that obscenely large plasma TV you've been lusting after. You don't have to justify your purchase to anyone but yourself. Once you mix money with marriage, though, things change—and fast. According to a survey by SmartMoney magazine, 40 percent of women and 36 percent of men have lied to their spouses about a purchase. "When you're single, your finances are your own," explains Phyllis Chase, a Los Angeles–based psychologist and co-host of the radio show Shrink Rap. "When you're married, you have to deal with different styles of spending and saving, and you may take on your partner's debt." And a marriage that doesn't make it for the long haul can also have a major negative effect on one's wealth. According to researchers at Ohio State University's Center for Human Resource Research, during a divorce, men and women generally lose three-fourths of their personal net worth. Double ouch.

Reason #5: You have better sex.Married couples may have more sex (approximately 98 times a year vs. singles' 49), but singles have better sex. According to a recent study published in the British Medical Journal, married women are significantly more likely to report problems with their sex lives than single women. "People who are dating have better sex because it's novel," says Davis. "Married people have to relearn how to play. It's natural for singles because that's the nature of a courting relationship—they tease, they experiment, they explore." Nature lends a helping hand, too. According to researchers at the University of Pisa in Italy, raging testosterone levels in both men and women makes the sex hotter during the first two years of a relationship. After that, other hormones take over—most notably, oxytocin, a bonding chemical, kicks in. While getting connected and comfortable is a positive step in a relationship, long-term lovers have to work harder to keep things hot in the bedroom. Singles, however, sizzle just the way they are.

Reason #6: You're better rested and smarter.While snuggling up next to a warm body can be pretty fantastic, according to a survey conducted by the National Sleep Foundation, your bedmate can cause you to lose an average of 49 minutes of sleep per night. Sleeping two-to-a-bed just isn't as restful as snoozing solo. Other studies confirm that singles generally get more rest — seven to eight hours of sleep a night — than marrieds, which enhances memory, mood and concentration, as well as allows your immune system to recharge. And, according to scientists at the University of Luebeck in Germany, creativity and problem-solving may directly correlate with getting enough sleep. In the study, participants were given a math puzzle; those who'd had eight hours of sleep or more before tackling it were three times more likely to get the right answer than those who slept less. So, singles, revel in the fact that you're alert, rested and have that extra brain-power edge.

Reason #7: You're less depressed.Although the media often perpetuates the image of single people being down in the dumps, overall unmarried people tend to be happier than their married counterparts—if you're a woman, that is. One report by the World Health Organization indicated that married women, especially ones with children, have a higher risk for depression than single women, and researchers at the University of London found that single women generally have fewer mental-health issues. "Marriage, in many ways, seems to benefit men more than women," says Davis. "For women, there's more of a loss of self." And, of course, today's women often feel like they need to do it all—have a career, take care of the kids and perform other traditionally "female" responsibilities. "People who aren't married are still investing in themselves," says Davis. "It's not selfish—it's giving to yourself, and that's something married people can learn from single people."

Reason #8: You have better friendships.Significant others are a wonderful thing, no doubt, but friends count, too. And on that front, one study found that, when women get married and have children, they spend much less time with their friends—less than five hours a week, down from 14 hours. Singles, however, often have the greatest sense of friendship and community—which can actually decrease stress levels, according to researchers at UCLA. Here's another way to look at this: "Singles don't rely on just one person to meet their needs. You don't automatically know who you're going to spend Friday night with," says Sasha Cagen, author of Quirkyalone: A Manifesto for Uncompromising Romantics. "The plus side is that you have a lot of different people in your life and potentially a greater sense of social possibilities."

Reason #9: Your travel tales are enviable.Marrieds take the most vacations, dominating the market with 62 percent of all trips taken, but singles arguably go on more interesting trips. According to the Travel Industry Association of America, singles corner the adventure-travel market, engaging in activities like whitewater rafting, scuba diving and mountain biking. Being single and relatively footloose certainly allows you to expand your geographical — and personal — borders. "I have lived abroad, backpacked for close to a year, have been in love three times and much more," says Courtney Davis, 27, a media-relations manager in Boston. "With every place and every person, my world has expanded."

Reason #10: You know yourself—and what you want out of a relationship.You're a better catch now than you were at 20. You may have signs of, ahem, experience etched on your face, but that's OK because you're more interesting and more self-aware. Not only have you grown as a person, but you've probably been through the ringer a few times in matters of love and now know what you want—and what you don't. Experts say that bodes well for future marital success and may actually decrease the likelihood of divorce. "When people get married young, they often feel like the other person will complete them, and they have trouble moving past that Hollywood myth," explains Chase. "But maturity brings so much, because if you're able to communicate who you are and what you want, the better your chances of having a successful marriage." And that's a wonderful message: Your single self is great... and should you find the right person and decide to marry, you're more likely to thrive in that stage of your life, too.

AN EMAIL ABOUT COKE...

So, today my moms tip was to not drink too much cola because she heard you can clean toilets with it... which prompted tons of calls and emails of people sharing their "cola" stories... including taking varnish off of a floor, removing flesh... all kinds of crazy stuff. Here's one of the emails I received from a listener:

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
#1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.
#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate), the commercial trucks must use hazardous material placards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

WATER OR COKE?? You will be Shocked!!

WATER
#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population.)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

#5.! Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer b! y 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

COKE
#1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.

#9 It will also clean road haze from your windshield. Now the question is, would you like a glass of water? or Coke?

I know they're usually airbrushed, but HOLY COW!

I feel so lucky that when I get back from vacation that I actually look forward to coming back to

work... I missed being on air last week! I had a blast on Hilton Head Island with my family and friends... we rented a big house which had a pool and was right next to the beach. Got some much needed R & R and got to visit with both of my brothers who are living there for the summer.

Returned on Saturday afternoon and got right back into the action with the 3rd Eye Blind Show at the HOB on Saturday night... what a great show AND great time! Here's some fun pix from my vacation:This is the whole crew... can you believe we all stayed in the same house for an entire week and didn't kill each other? The house was so huge and amazing... plenty of space to accomodate everyone (phew!)... Here's the outside of the place that we stayed... had to show this pic because of the little mini "crab shack" you can see here in the background... it was our own outdoor bar! Huge grill, fridge, sink... we spent nearly every night hangin out here...

Coolest bowl of soup I've ever seen. It was called the Painted Desert Soup at a restaurant called Sante Fe (you should go there if you ever go to Hilton Head! Delicious!)... Had to take a pic because it was possibly the most artistic soup I've ever seen.

Here's what's great about him... the music is fantastic, lyrical, catchy... you've heard it in many movies and on many TV shows including "Because I Said So...", "She's The Man", "What About Brian?", "One Tree Hill"... the list goes on and on... but he's so down to earth! Great personality and willing to talk to any and everyone. He came by the studio this morning to play a few songs acoustically for the staff and he nailed it. Ummm... so after I got home from the Nickelback/Staind/Daughtry show I excitedly uploaded my pix to my computer and realized I am a picture slacker! I swear we took about a gazillion pix throughout the night... however, I guess only 3 were on my camera! I'm guessing Mr. Allan Fee has the most, second to Rob Kruz who I believe had his camera out quite a bit... so their blogs will rock!

Thank you to EVERYONE who stopped by and said hi at the Q104 tent! SO MANY PEOPLE! It was great to meet everyone in person!!! Even though I think every single one of us were quite hot and sweaty... it certainly was WARM! But that didn't stop us from having fun!!

In the meantime... here's my pix...

JOHN MAYER MEET & GREET

I admit it. I was nervous to meet John Mayer. There's just something about him... when you actually do some research on the guy it turns out he's quite intelligent. Read his blog for example... the humor is different, well thought out. He cares about the environment. He's not oblivious to what's going on in the world even though I'm sure it would be easy for him not to pay attention. He doesn't ignore. And damn, he's a talented musician. Just watching him play the guitar is unbelieveable! In a nutshell, really super-smart people like that make me nervous. Probably because I want to be up to their "witty/smart" standards... so it never fails I say or do something stupid.

For example, we were allowed to have John sign one thing for us, I had a publicity photo that the label gave to us... and I asked him to sign it "Jen, you're way hotter than 'you know who.' Love - John" He sure didn't like that idea... but he was playful about it (phew) and I never really did say who 'you know who' is... so it's not like I specifically referred to anyone that may or may not be currently in his life. As a matter of fact, I was referring to my friend Rachel. Yep, that's it. I'm way hotter than Rachel.

Bottom line: John Mayer is hot and as witty as you could imagine. The pix speak for themselves... and oh, he did sign my photo "Jen, I like you. John Mayer 07" That'll do just fine...

JOHN MAYER CONCERT!

GREAT show at Blossom last night! We got to go to the MEET & GREET with John Mayer himself! And yes, he's as yummy as you could imagine... they had a staff photographer that took all of the pix (we weren't allowed to bring our own cameras in to that part) so I'll have the photo with John Mayer posted as soon as I get it! (they told me within 24 hours... can't wait!) Above, 2 of my new Q104 listener friends... members of the John Mayer fan club!

He coordinates all of the fun stuff like the meet & greets with John... he's super fun and even told me that John Mayer is a runner and earlier that day he was jogging around and slapped him a high five as he ran by... too cool... could you imagine John Mayer high fiving you and knowing you by name?!?!?! ANDY I'M JEALOUS!

So here's my question... as I'm looking at celeb blogs and such over the weekend, and listening to Tim Richards this morning talking about guys that are more vain than women, I'm wondering why we look at some celebs and think they're hot... even though they're guys AND wearing make-up?!?! I gotta say, if I'm out and about and I meet a guy that's wearing make-up, I would think that's totally weird! However, if it was say, Chris Daughtry, for example, I'd probably think he was hot!!! What's up with that? Have a look at a few... you decide:
